HJ Kreissieger Badge

Postby Dave_Holden » Wed Aug 02, 2023 6:39 pm

Hello all.

I picked this up a few weeks back, I might keep it as the quality is really superb.

The Hitler Youth Kreissieger Badges were awarded to the local and national winners of the annual Reich vocational contest. These contests were held by the Nazi labour organization, the DAF, with the assistance of the Hitler Youth and the Nazi students association. The competitions started in 1934 initially were intended for youth who were learning skilled trades. Contestants took a series of tests in which they were graded on specialized skills pertaining to their trade (theory and practice) as well as punctuality, personal hygiene, orderliness, and adherence to Nazi ideology. Maker marked AG THAM GABLONZ aN.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Dave,

Very nice example! I don't blame you, I would probably keep it as well!

Here is what I now about these awards.
It is my understanding the Reichsberufswettkampf Games only ran in the years 1938, 1939 and then stopped during the war...but then restarted again in 1944 under a slightly different name Kriegsberufswettkampf.

There where games prior to 1938 but the awards where different and only Reichssiegers awarded.

In years 1938 and 1939 you have the bronze (Kreissieger) silver (Gausieger) and gold (Reichssieger).
When restarted in 1944 there was no longer the Kreissieger grade only the Gau and Reich.

Cheers!

For reference, here is a photo I have saved in my files...note, these are not mine.

Notice the bronze, silver and gold grades as well as the 1944 version in the lower right hand corner.
Also, here is a couple of box sets.

Cheers!
