Soviet TSh-4 Tanker Helmet/Hat

Postby Commander_Rob_T72 » Sun Oct 27, 2024 5:00 pm

Here I have my Soviet tanker helmet, dated 1973 and in a small size. It features thick padding to protect the crew from hitting their heads inside the tank and a radio headset which allows crewmen to communicate with eachother and other tanks. Helmets very similar to this one are still used today across the world. Unfortunately it does have a slight smell which is likely due to the gasses from inside the tank. It has numbers painted on the front which are presumably the battalion, company or vehicle number, please correct me if im wrong.

I have not seen many at militaria fairs either. As soon as I saw this one I knew that I had to pick it up. It also has some battle damage on it, if only these things could talk.

As stated, a really cool helmet. If I'm correct, this is the summer version?

Thanks for posting!
